Some quality family time

Swan let me borrow her camera for a day so I have a few favorites from my second Christmas with my family since my sister and her fiance were with his family for the holiday.

My dog Christy; she was actually born 13 years ago on Christmas day. (A little photo shopping on the right...)

I first wanted to name her Noel but "No" would not be a good thing to call a dog.

Christy was the runt of her litter and when I first picked her up she peed on me. For whatever reason I was sold on her; I guess maybe I figured she'd marked her territory or something.

My sister and her fiance have aspirations of living tha thug life...

They are also maddly in love.

She obviously has some work to do on looking tough...

We enjoyed a great dinner of stuffed pork loin along with a great wine sent by my mother's brother in California.

Everyone thought I was wierd for taking so many pictures.

I think my old man is a little wierd...

My mother was skeptical of the picture taking as well.

She just wasn't willing get the "focus" of my intentions. (I think this shot would have been a great one if I just didn't mess up the focus on her).

Starting to look for a new saddle

Alright, I've decided that while I am going to send my little casio point and shoot in to be fixed, I am also going to go ahead and get myself the next step in photography and get a new digital SLR camera. Look for Canon or Nikon branded shots comin' hard sometime in the relatively near future.

On Hold

Well, I began this blog three posts ago and then of course my camera broke forcing me to go on a hiatus in the photo blogging. Hopefully my camera will either get fixed or I will be able to get my hands on another. Until then this blog will remain dormant.

Hidden favorites

The Japanese American Internment Memorial in DC is probably my favorite memorial of all I have seen in the DC area. It is very simple and elegant and I find it particularly beautiful.

The statue of the two swans entangled in barbed wire I find very poetic and moving.

Here is a blog post about about the US recognition and attempt at apology including some of Ronald Reagan's remarks from when he signed the bill to pay restitution to those affected by this terrible part of our country's history.

This picture is of a couple of restaurants hidden back in the alley behind the building where I work.

In the place on the right there is this tiny little shop owned and worked by this cute old Asian couple that get so excited to see you every time you walk in the door. They have the best chicken bacon wrap that I get every time I go there.

This is actually a group picture at Buffalo Billiards for Trow's birthday. I tried using my cameras night scene mode which is apparently an extended exposure mode; kind of neat. I'll have to try using this one for it's intended purposes some day.

If you'd like more information about the Japanese American Internment Memorial AOL City Guide has a pretty good write up on it here.

The Mormon Cathedral

Went for a nice though chilly ride this morning out Beach Dr and visited the mormon cathedal for the first time.

The building is actually extremely impressive; I'd only seen it from the beltway previously.

On top of the spire is the Angel Moroni who mormons believe brought the book of mormon to Joseph Smith. (There is also a lightning rod attached to the top of the figure).

The corner of the building is actually a bunch of small stained glass type windows to let in light; towards the bottom they are darker and as they go up they become lighter symbolizing the difference between earth and heaven.

Also, many of the walls of the building which look like marble are actually painted glass as well which also let in light to the temple.

I really liked this one. Although above in color the bright blue sky is pretty nice as well.

KMAX Snaps Pix

This, my second blog is meant to be an extension of my first blog kmaxtrax for the main purpose of displaying pictures. I have recently become inspired by my friend swan's picture taking abilities from her world travels and have decided to begin to learn how to be a photographer. So with my very limited imagination I will try to begin to show the world as I see it through my camera's eye.

Please if you find yourself here checking out this site feel free to leave feedback on my photography and hints and insight into the art of photography will always be welcome.

Cheers!
